The London Edition has evolved over the past few years from it's predecessor the Berners Hotel. Closed in 2006 for complete renovations.
"We at Hotel-Assist had a long and happy relationship with the Berners Hotel so we are just a little bit sentimental about the re-opening of what was an old and somewhat worn out and faded old friend"
Unfortunately, after it's closure in 2006 for renovations, the Berners Hotel went into receivership. Thankfully Marriott International took the reigns and, in conjunction with the renowned Ian Shrager (The Sanderson and St.Martins Lane are previous Ian Shrager designed hotels) now have a beautifully finished product, The 5 star London Edition Hotel, located in the heart of central London's Fitrovia district.
From the basement upwards, all seven floors have undergone a complete transformation. No traces of the dowdy old corridors, scuffed walls and chipped paintwork! No! We are delighted to say that the new design concept works extremely well within this historical hotel, it has been brought into the new millenia and we think it will be a very popular addition to the 5 star hotel market in London. We are very pleased to welcome The London Edition.
The location of the London Edition is one of it's best selling points, with 2 tube stations each within a few minutes walk, Oxford Street or Tottenham Court Road to connect you with the Piccadilly Line or Central Line. The mile long Oxford Street is just a few paces away, with it's wall to wall shops and stores. Many good restaurants and bars are dotted around the area and for an entertaining night out, London's theatreland again is easily reached.
Some of the old architecture remains, such as the high windows, ornate ceilings and marble clad reception area. Ian Shrager has done well to blend new and old together in such a seamless fashion, with such stunning results. The old Berners Hotel would be very proud!
There are 173 guest rooms which have a clubby - even sailing yacht feel to them, with wonderful wood panelled walls, oak floors and muted lighting. The hotel also boasts a number of suites and a unique 195 square metre Penthouse which has it's own wraparound furnished terrace giving a 360 degree vista of this busy and bustling part of Central London. A great space for private dining or small intimate get togethers.
The A-La-Carte restaurant, The Berners Tavern is now under the expertise of Jason Atherton, Michelin rated Executive Chef. No doubt guests will be very tempted to stay in the hotel and experience the dishes Jason creates.
